Hey Ref’s Life community!
Heading into the off-season? It’s the perfect time to reset and refocus. Here are 3 quick and easy ways to make the most of your downtime.
Reflect:
Take 15 minutes to write down your season highlights. What are you most proud of? What’s one area where you know you could improve?
Pro Tip: Use a journal (or your phone's notes app) to make this a habit every year.
Recharge:
Step away from the court and give yourself a week off, mentally and physically. It’s okay to do nothing for a few days. Take a hike, spend time with family, or even binge-watch your favorite series.
Plan:
Think about one skill you’d love to sharpen before next season. Is it better communication with coaches? Better processing the play? Or maybe smoother rotations? Create a game plan to practice it during the off-season.
Pro Tip: Break down into smaller tasks with timelines and complete one by one until the deadlines you put for yourself.

Season Is Over: Now What? Reflect, Recharge, Improve
As the season comes to a close, many basketball referees can't help but feel a mix of emotions. There's a sense of relief that the long, grueling schedule is finally over, but also a sense of disappointment or frustration if things didn't go as planned. Perhaps you didn't get the assignments you wanted, or you struggled with certain aspects of your game.
